The Aude is a department in southern France, located in the Occitanie region.
Aude stretches from the foothills of the Pyrenees in the south to the sun-scorched plains of the Mediterranean coast in the east.
Aude can offer a diverse choice of delights from layers of history such as Europe’s best preserved medieval fortified city – an UNESCO world heritage site in Carcassonne; the dramatic Cathar castles that home the Cathar faith in the 12th and 13th centuries and the beautiful Canal du Midi another UNESCO site linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
